Hello all from Anchorage.

We made it to Anchorage about 2 weeks ago and it is amazing.
The trip was unbelievable. Talk about feeling humble. After driving from San Diego, from about Idaho to Alaska, the scenery was amazing. Over nearly every hill, and around nearly every corner, the views were jaw-dropping. As we went farther north into Alberta and the Yukon, it just kept getting better and better. I would highly recommend this trip for your bucket list. We went through Banff, and Jasper, stopped at Lake Louise and spent a night in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. It makes one realize how soft we have become when you see the routes men and women traveled during the Gold Rush. Sometimes alone, and sometimes with partners, they had to carry at least 1 ton of supplies per person before the RCMP would allow them to travel into the Yukon. This often meant dozens of trips over the mountains with only what they could carry on their backs.
Anyway, enough of the travel guide stuff.
Started work on October 15th, doing prety much the same thing I have been doing for more years than I care to admit, so it should be a fairly easy transition.
I hadn't realized how much I had forgotten about the cold until I stood outside the other day in 18 degree weather for about 45 minutes waiting to get my snow tires put on. It will take some geting used to after having lived in SoCal for 15 years, but I'm up for the adventure.
I'll add some pictures to this so you can get a sense of the beauty of this land.

Take care, all. I'll keep in touch
